Do clothes make the man?

Modesty is something important  to me. But what is modest enough? We have great friends that wear  plain solid colored dresses and caps. But are they more modest than our friends that wear skirts and shorts that stop at the knees and dont wear headcoverings?  Is one holier than the other? They both are christians.  But look totally different. Both families love Jesus. But who is 'right'?
Is make-up modest? Is short hair modest? Is long hair on a man modest? Are pants modest for a girl? Is a kilt OK for a man? Is it wrong to dye hair? What about shaving?
I know lots of people on both sides of the fence. Who is right? Is there room for difference? How much of what we see and do is just our immediate culture?
Are tattoos, dreads, pearcing, smoking or a glass of wine wrong? How do you chose where to draw the line? Personal  Preference? Or biblical passages that explain your view?
I have tons more thoughts but my nursing baby is done so I need to milk the cow. < is nursing in public(covered or not) modest?>

Fonte made Kaya an apron...

Photos courtesy of my Fonte as well.  Grammy got our girls their beloved dolls at Christmas. The creativity and sewing skills have exploded here! Even though I didnt purchase them I believe they are some of the very best $ spend. My girls are exploding with awesome skills due to  them!
Felt and clay foods are on the list of want to do next. We just need to get to a Michaels!

Tubby's 'Buildings'

Our children love the camera. And everything they make needs noted. Here Tubby built a house. Photographed himself and asked me to build a building with him. He is really growing and changing. The more he has to do the happier he is. Hard working man he is. <3

Our PaPaw and Daddy...

Our Daddy has been working hard making his Daddy a knife. It is beyond beautiful. He put so much time and care in it to make it just right. And was able to run and deliver it to him last night. We are so glad to get it to him.

Chickens...

Things I hate to buy at the grocery store are chicken and also eggs. We'd rather do without eggs than to get them from the store. Are they really even eggs? Blech! And I try not to think about the chicken... Went a long time without it cause it grossed me out badly.
I am working on a large chicken order this morning from our very favorite Hatchery. Mt. Healthy Hatcheries. We have lost very few birds from them. Great quality and service. We tried to order from other places. That was a huge fail. :P
We are getting 50 layers (Rhode Island Reds) and 250-300 Meat birds. Plus bonus chicks. For every fifty you order you get 25 extra birds of their choice. Broth/soup birds. YUM.
I am planning to can lots of broth and meat. I love the ease of canned meat. And I love that we are raising great meat! I hope to someday have a beef cow a yr or something too. One thing at a time to get closer to our own meat. <3

Giving myself a headache...

Daddy and 2 children left to a barn raising. Jew Bee has been napping and playing. And the 3 big girls are busy here at the house. Dad basically challenged me to knit him a hat... I.do.not.knit. Really. At this point washing Walmart toilets would be easier...
I have had a basic knowledge of knitting since I was 10 or so. But crocheting is way faster and easier. I like fast and easy. But somethings are better knitted I hear.... And Daddy wants a good knit hat for his Survival bag.... A friend is also knitting him one... So if I fail this yarn can be a birds nest or something....
DC Talk is playing in the background. Ahhh. Seems the perfect knitting music.... I will post updates as I go. Wonder how well wool burns? (kidding! kinda.)
 Momma

*Edited to add... I had to tear it out. My circular needles are too big in circumference. Hoping to get a smaller set. But I am practicing on chunkier yarn. Making a scarf or something...

Sock Bun....

Looks funny. But the point isnt really to look good. I tried this yesterday to curl my hair. Daddy loves if I curl my hair but I personally find it a waste of time. I am a 'just get it out of my way' kinda girl. They say to put it up like this then go to bed. But I don't like my hair down. And my hair doesnt hold curl well. He is the one that likes to see it so wearing it in the day and down at night is perfect for us. I get it up and out of the way in the day while he is gone. He gets to see it down with curls at night. ;)
It is up again today. I will post a curl picture later.

Dorito Chicken....YUM!

Yummy! We love this meal! Leftovers survived to be eaten at breakfast....
This not a good for you meal....
But sure tastes wonderful...  I have tried to make healthier versions... But uhhhh no thanks. This wins.

The recipe is so simple it barely qualifies as a recipe....

2 bags Doritos
2 1/2 LBS of cooked Chicken
2 cans of Rotel (I would do 3 but Daddy likes his chips crunchy still.... )
1 LB of Cheese. ( This here is sharp cheddar, no dyes)

Bake til melted. And enjoy! Yummers!

Wish I had made more....

And she calls him Thunder...

Didn't get great pictures but this is Pear-O's new Colt. He is cute. A bit skiddish just coming off his Momma. He was born in August. Very fun. And we like that she has to work to 'make a horse'. He will be loved and adored. He is, rather.  And is great motivation to get things done! School and chores should be faster with a cute guy to go visit!

Quilts...

After getting the quilt frame and then making two quilt blocks for a quilt we (ladies in the community) are making for a wedding couple. I am hooked on quilts. Really hooked. We went to a local quilt shop and bought fabric and Eleanor Burns book Irish Chain in a day. Looks simple enough. Yet not too plain.
We washed our fabric. Then Ironed (ICK! Really do not like to iron.)  Cut our strips for the 9 patches. (Pattern goes 9 patch- solid, 9 patch- solid)
We then sewed our strips together.  Next comes ironing down our seams. (can I say ick again?)  In the bottom picture we folded our strips to show us what a 9 patch would look like in our fabrics.  My quilt is the purple. I am making King sized for my bed. I have big plans to make us all nice quilts... But think finishing this one is the most important right now. ;)

The Quilt frame...

My Daddy had asked if I wanted a quilt frame he had made. I was glad to have something he made. And said YES! Homemade items are so special to me! I had no idea there was a quilt on it. My husband and brother loaded it in our van and I never saw it til later. I was thrilled to see the quilt! I just wish I knew who made it! I have a couple ideas but nothing for sure. Wish I had my Grandma here to tell me. :( Miss her terrible.
But this is one of my very favorite treasures! My girls and I are going to finish quilting it. Then we are going to cuddle in our family Heirloom! Ahhh.... Isnt it a beautiful gift!
