PaPaw meeting Tubby.

We sure miss this Old Mossy Elephant. Morel season is one of the many things that make us think of him. It has been over two years now. Insane.
I've said it before. But my children have dealt more with death than I had to as a child by far. I hate that.
Bill, the knife maker Patrick works with some just had a second stroke last week. That is 2 in 2 mths. Cancer is horrid. As are cancer drugs. Please please pray for Bill and his wife Wilma. Bill has to stay in the hospital for two weeks of rehab before coming home.
This hits too close to home. PaPaw DIdNT match Bills story. But in many ways I feel like we re watching him the last year all over again. And it hurts a lot. I want to punch cancer in the face.
God is good. This world stinks.

Party planning...

Joelle and Rhyyan are having a combined birthday party in May. The plans. The ideas. Hopes. Oh my. Too many for me. I am trying not to stress. I do best taking the first idea that comes. They both like ten million ideas.
But it will be good for them. A girls tea. In the shady area of the yard. Flowers are involved. In nearly every food dish they plan to make. We have never. Ever. Just invited girls to a party. We always do families. But we had to do it at least this time. Though it feels so strange. Invites will go out this week.
We will also be sewing the banners this week. The cloth napkins. And the table cloths. Oh my. The girls hope it has a Victorian spin on it. But I'm thinking due to what stuff I have on hand it will be more vintage in style. I think though they will like it anyways.
Here is to planning. Styling. And dreaming.

Downloaded the blogger app!

Found a walking/bike trail a couple weeks ago in town. And last minute Patrick was heading to town. So I went with him and he dropped us off to check it out. ❤️ I had wanted to go with others but there was not time to let them know. And we only had a hour or so to hike.
Wisdom loved picking flowers. And these are the best color too.
Boys were quick to load up the bikes. Walking trails is ok. But bikes win. It was so quiet and beautiful! We met 2 boys hunting for morels. I promise I didn't add them to my collection of children. But they were adorable. And taught me some cool things. Like what a jelly mushroom was.
   I was impressed. Sweet guys.
A close up of a plant we hope to identify.
Full shot.
Beauty in my sun hat. I. Love. Her.
Naomi in Grammys grass. Green!!! I love grass. The hat is a gift from Tabitha a dear friend in CA. The cardigan is from Another dear friend Noelle. A local friend. I adore hand knits. Naomi does too.
Earth Day grocery shopping.
1: Asparagus... Traded a mushroom for it. Yum!
2: Driads Saddle mushroom. Aka Pheasants back. (First time find. Will taste tomorrow)
3:Chives... Mommas/Grammys garden. (Thank you!)
4: Rhubarb!!!! Same as chives!
5: mint. Same as 3 &4. Thank youuuu!

Eggs for scale. Yummers!!!
Wisdom and ANOTHER PET YABBIT. this one half domestic half wild. Jeepers. Astrid caught and gave it to her. She loves Wisdom.

Sweet N with stars from Judah. He rediscovered the star hole punch tonight.

This post happened only thanks to Patrick. I accidentally deleted it. But he told me to just shake the iPod and click undo. The boy deserves a cookie. I'm in love. 😍😍😍

Some of today's food.

Perfect tall biscuits. We ate them for second breakfast with blueberry jam. Yummy!
Yes second breakfast. Our day goes:
Snack ( those up before me)
Breakfast
2ndbreakfast
Lunch
Snack
Snack
Supper.

Or something like that. But 2 breakfasts. Daily.  This warm weather has all the children thinking there is a bigger need for food. So we are going thru the jam.  And the butter. Trying to use up eggs. But the chickens are faster at laying it seems. I love spring problems.
Chives. Cut for the dehydrator. I plan to use it as much as the canner this year.
We stole out a handful for the mashed potatoes for supper. ( they smell so yum!) chicken is heading to the grill. We are nearly out of last years chickens. And not raising more this year. 900 last year did us in. But I almost miss it already. But green stuff is my focus this year.
Rhubarb. Yum. From mom/Grammys yard. I finally planted some. Our neighbor gave me a few starts. They are looking good. I hope to have a great harvest in a couple years. But until then this and farmers market.
Strawberries. Cause rhubarb.
Match made in heaven. True story. You know where this is going right? Pie. We love pie. Pie shows love. It has too. Add this stuff to the inside. Oh man.

Tonight's menu.
Grilled chicken
Mashed taters
Pie
Ice cream

I'd add a veggie. But we ate asparagus several times today. So I think we are good to skip it.
That pile of asparagus I had last night? Half a grocery sack full. Gone. Good news though. Our neighbor brought us a bag this afternoon. Fuller than yesterday's. Yum!!!  2 years ago we were almost sick of it. We ate it a couple times a day and had to find other ways to eat it. This year we are getting satisfied. Last year we got teased only. It changes each year.
I'll attempt pictures when it is done cooking. But no promises. I'm tired. My bed buddies didn't sleep well last night.  And one was clingy today. So I'm tired.

Couple fast pics

I've mostly taken pictures with the iPod. So I am posting all the photos I have on the iPad right now. I hope to download the blogger app. To the iPad soon. But the Internet is moving pretty slow right now.
Here is a half wild half domesticated baby bunny astrid gave the children. Blah. Rabbits will be such a issue in the garden this year...
She doesn't like light. :) I love this!
Rhyyan plays with her food. And then takes pictures to prove it.
